Viv's Influences

Vivienne Westwood is greatly influential , and I wanted to know what influenced her S/S13 gold label collection , I read many quotations before deciding which one to use to adorn the picture below with . but this one struck me the most:
"I think the greatest single influence on art and the way we see the world  happened at the beginning of the 20th century. Romantic, fairytale, folk, myth interpreted through the eyes of modernity. Influenced :all the musicians, Matisse,Picasso,Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, you and me"
I can safely say that I am very happy with this picture and I think that it reflects Vivienne herself really very well ( if I do say so myself).I deliberately didn't write over the face of the model because I just love her eye makeup and not because of my inability to use photoshop!
Oh ,yeah,  and um.....MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Mary , Mary...

I love bold and crazy prints - thats probably why I like Mary Katrantzou's collections sooo much - they always feature a gorgeous , almost tribal print that really grabs your attention. But what I love even more is when you take two amazing prints and wear them together , it just creates a sort of a surreal air of confidence, sophistication and playfulness!
As well as a collaboration with Topshop , Mary is becoming the designer that everyone is talking about - a genuine it girl , you can almost sense that lingering jealousy of other designers , wishing to be in her position. And yet, I think that the best of Mary's designs are still yet to come , so I will be waiting eagerly to see her latest collection!

Oh and IT'S CHRISTMAAASSSS ( in two days) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry , but I just had to do that!

Pope's got style!

I know what you're thinking - this post is not about The Pope but a different pope all together - Marlena Pope - ever heard of her? She's an ingenious blogger from the states and did I mention she writes for Rookie? I was reading an old-ish article of Marlena's on Rookie on how to make your own fashion collar , she began "Your neck will feel naked after reading this."
(Picture below from Rookie)
Naturally , feeling inspired I found an old school shirt and followed the suprisingly easy instructions ,  thus creating my very own detachable collar - and I was really very happy with the results, though mine was far less razzle dazzle than any  of the other ones Marlena had made - I just drew a swirling pattern with a black fine liner:
:

I'll probs be attempting this again and next time I'll plan it a bit better by adding  more sequins/beads/ribbon etc. and in general more eye catching!

E.T. has been phoning home for 30 years .....

I can't believe E.T. is 30 years old -  I mean that's way before I was even born , but it was one of my favourite and most memorable childhood films! I only came across this interesting fact when I noticed a programme dedicated to the birthday of the Stephen Spielberg film on itv ,which is due to air later on this evening! Here are a few pics of the birthday boy:

The Name's , Rocha , Simone Rocha.

Simone Rocha may have  a family member entwined to the fashion industry ( ahem!...John Rocha) but she really doesn't need to hide behind his name because she  can stand up on her own two feet with her both sleek and unique designs. She uses varied colours from vibrant canary yellows to sheer white as well as varied textures including PVC , silk and wool. I loved her S/S 2013 collection and the A/W 2012 so I found some of my favourite looks from those collections , just to share with you her beautiful designs!

Watch to find out more about Simone and her musings,  designs and her life in general :
